International School of Cape Town

The International School of Cape Town opened in January 1998 to serve the educational needs of the international and local communities living in Cape Town. The school has a Christian foundation but offers places to children of all nationalities and faiths.
The International School of Cape Town follows the English National Curriculum from Reception (aged 4/5 years) through to the end of Key Stage 3, which is Year 9, in the High School. The school's curriculum is unique in that it also takes full account of the requirements of the South African curriculum so that citizens, as well as non-citizens, can benefit from the school's educational programme. From year 10 onwards, students prepare for the IGCSE, 'A/S' and 'A' level examinations of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate.
The International School of Cape Town offers a broad and balanced curriculum and emphasizes the importance of music, PE, information and communication technology, art and speech and drama.
The International School of Cape Town offers a fully inclusive curriculum to all children capable of benefiting from the education offered in the school. Children who have special education needs are catered for by suitably appointed staff. Class sizes are kept small so as to optimise the learning environment. Emphasis is placed in the creation of a caring environment where creativity and thinking skills are strongly encouraged. Learning centres on the teaching of concepts, skills, attitudes and values to equip students for the challenges of the world.
The International School of Cape Town is situated on five different campuses in the following areas: Rondebosch, Wynberg, Hout Bay, Somerset West and Durbanville all surrounded by mountains and close to the sea.
With the opening of South Africa to the world's markets the school was established to offer an all-though education based on an international curriculum and taught in a caring, Christian environment. The school currently has children of over thirty nationalities in addition to the South African citizens studying in the school.
Entry is by application and assessment and reports from schools previously attended.
